Continuing Education Units

We have several methods of approved continued education.

CEUs must be earned in the calendar year following your initial CMRS Certification but before your anniversary date.

We will approve magazine subscriptions, seminars, videos, online subscriptions, etc. that are not approved by AMBA already on a case by case basis.

Medicare HIPAA Conference or Satellite Presentation
3 CEUs for attendance

Medlearn (CMS) Online Training Courses
3 CEUs for each course (except Adult Immunization, Women’s Health and Home Health Agency) Available different times during the year. Non billing related courses will not be approved.

Guest Speaker at AMBA (or other approved) Seminar
3 CEUs or Special Consideration for Additional CEUs

Advanced Claims Processing Manual (Claims Transit)
8 CEUs

Participation in AMBA's Private Email Group
1 CEU for annual participation

AMBA Officer, Director, or Committee Chairperson
6 CEUs for annual participation

Teaching a billing or coding class
1 CEU for each school hour (ex. 20 credit hours = 20 CEUs) (you may only use teaching CEUs every other year so you must earn new CEUs every other year if you are a full time teacher)

Understanding Health Insurance (Jo Ann C. Rowell and Michelle Green)
3 CEUs

Code Books (must show proof of purchase (no copies of the book page)
1 CEU CPT-4 Coding Manual
1 CEU ICD-9-CM Coding Manual
1 CEU HCPCS Coding Manual
